U-TURN
The U-Turn is a liquid separator specifically engineered for optimal performance with plate heat exchangers in ammonia applications. Designed to enhance system efficiency, the U-Turn module—comprising both the separator and plate heat exchanger—ensures minimal pressure drop losses and maximised energy efficiency. This advanced separator employs four distinct separation methods to guarantee efficient operation, while its short vertical ammonia driving columns facilitate small temperature approaches, contributing to higher system efficiency.
The sliding support mechanism allows for thermal expansion, effectively preventing the buildup of thermal tensions and ensuring long-term reliability. Capable of handling droplet sizes as small as 0.15 mm, the U-Turn features a separation margin of 25% plus one nominal diameter, providing an extra layer of assurance in the separation process.
Additionally, we ensure that the maximum separation gas velocity is limited to 60% of the re-entrainment velocity, which prevents liquid re-entrainment into the gas flow. To further enhance safety and reliability, the U-Turn incorporates a 180° U-bend, offering an extra safety margin.

SEMI-WELDED LINE
Semi-welded plate heat exchangers are suitable for refrigeration, chemical processes and various kinds of industrial utility duties. The unique Alfa Laval RefTight™ sealing system guarantees a long lifetime sealing between the welded channels because the laser weld is on the outside of the ring gasket groove. The smooth surface ensures a tight uniform seal over the entire gasket ring.
